Brad Friedel

Brad Friedel is an international football goalkeeper who was born on May 18, 1971 in Lakewood, Ohio in the United States and lives with his wife Tracy and two daughters, Izabella and Allegra.

His actual name is Bradley Howard Friedel, and he grew up in Bay Village, where attended Westerly Elementary School and Bay Middle School. Brad Friedel graduated from Bay High School in 1989 after which he attended the University of California, Los Angeles.

Brad Friedel played 82 games for the United States Men’s national soccer team between 1992 and 2005 and represented his country at three FIFA World Cup tournaments, thus making him the third most-cap goalkeeper (football) in the team’s history. Brad Friedel was nicknamed “The Human Wall” by fans for his brilliant performance during the 2002 World Cup.

During his three year stint at the University, from 1990 to 1992, he was a part of the men’s soccer team. Brad Friedel was the National Collegiate Athletic Association Champion 1990 and was selected for Division I First-Team-All-American (soccer) in 1991 and 1992 as the Top University Goalkeeper. In 1992, he won the Herman Trophy and was named University Player of the Year. Brad Friedel discontinued his university education to pursue a professional football career and practiced with Newcastle United F.C. as an on loan player from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

In 1995, his agent brought in a 1.1 million dollar deal that led to the transfer of Brad Friedel from USSF to a leading Turkey team, Galatasaray S.K. Two years later he moved to the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer and the same year, he was named the Major League Soccer (MLS) Goalkeeper of the year. In 1998, he went on to play for Liverpool football club.

In November 2000, Brad Friedel was taken in by Graeme Souness to play for Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer. He showcased his skills consistently since joining the club and his good performances ensured the team’s return to the Premiership. One of his most memorable performances for Blackburn Rovers came in the League Cup Final in 2002, where he had a string of saves to his credit. In the same year, Brad Friedel helped his team with a 2-1 win over Arsenal F.C. at Highbury and was awarded Man of the Match. His impressive performance against Fulham F.C. in the same season, which included a penalty kick save, helped Blackburn Rovers to win the match 2-1.

Brad Friedel was selected for the Premiership Starting XI at the end of 2002-2003 season in English football and was given the Blackburn Player of the Year award for the 15 clean sheets he kept. In a game against Charlton Athletic on February 21, 2004, Brad Friedel scored a goal from open play in the 90th minute, an occurrence which is considered rare for a goalkeeper. He earned another Man of the Match award on September 9, 2006 in a game against Sheffield United F.C. in the FA Premier League, where he managed a number of saves that included two penalty kick saves. On April 14, 2006 Brad Friedel extended his contract with Blackburn Rovers and played for the club till he moved to Aston Villa in 2008, where he pursues his career at present

Carlo Cudicini

Reliable as ever in 2010-11, the Italian goalkeeper made 13 appearances in all competitions including four in the Champions League.
And there were some moments to remember for Milan-born Carlo.
Having kicked-off his career at AC Milan, he got the chance to play again at the San Siro again, albeit in less-than-ideal circumstances when Heurelho Gomes was sent off early in our 4-3 defeat against Inter.
But he more than made up for it by starting the home group match against Inter and playing his part - including a stunning save from a Wesley Sneijder free-kick - in a memorable 3-1 win at the Lane.
Carlo played our final three matches of the campaign and kept a clean sheet as we enjoyed our first Premier League win at Anfield since August, 1993.
Hugely-experienced Carlo initially joined us from Chelsea in January, 2009.
In November, 2009, he sustained injuries to his wrists and pelvis in a road accident, cutting his season short.
But by the end of the 2009-10 campaign, he had returned to training and was awarded a new one-year contract at the Club.
Carlo then made his return to match action in a pre-season friendly at Bournemouth in July, 2010.
The former AC Milan stopper had previously made eight first team appearances in the early part of the 2009-10 season, deputising for injured regular number one Heurelho Gomes.
Having arrived at the Lane during the previous January transfer window, Carlo went straight into Harry Redknapp's starting lineup for our 3-1 Premier League victory at home to Stoke City the day after he joined.
He then retained his place between the sticks for our following three Premier League games before Gomes reclaimed the No.1 jersey for the remainder of the 2008-09 season.
Carlo previously served at Stamford Bridge for almost ten years, making 210 appearances and is second behind Peter Bonetti in Chelsea's all-time list of clean sheets.
He was number one between 2002-04 before playing understudy to Petr Cech, widely regarded as the world's best goalkeeper.
Earlier in his career, Carlo had spells at Italian giants AC Milan, where his father Fabio played, and Lazio.

Heurelho Gomes

Popular goalkeeper enjoyed another consistent season in 2010-11, starting 41 of our 53 matches in all competitions.
The highlight was his performance in the San Siro in February as we shocked AC Milan with a 1-0 win the first leg of our Champions League, last 16 tie.
Gomes joined us from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven in July 2008 and has since become a massive fans' favourite at the Lane.
Despite a difficult start to his career in English football, the goalkeeper missed just six games of the 2008-09 campaign, playing a key role in us conceding just 10 goals at home in the league all season.
As a result of his fine form, Gomes earned his first call-up to the Brazilian national squad for the first time in nearly three years in May 2009.
He carried this form into his second season at the Lane, despite suffering an early season groin injury.
After regaining the number one jersey once fit again, Gomes continued to dismay opponents with seemingly impossible saves, making him a cult hero among Spurs supporters - not least for three stunning saves to help us beat Arsenal in April, 2010.
He made 42 appearances in total during his second season, 2009-10, and by the end of it was widely regargded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
In May, 2010, Gomes was called up to the Brazil squad for the summer's World Cup Finals in South Africa.
Gomes has a routine before kick-off in each half where he leaps above the crossbar on each side of the goal repeatedly, while fans behind the goal cheer him on.
Born in Minas Gerais, he arrived at White Hart Lane having won four Dutch titles in succession with PSV, reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2004-05.
Gomes made his name at Cruzeiro in Brazil, debuting in 2002 before securing his move to Holland in 2004.
